Paddle in the Park
10:00 AM - 4:00 PM - FREE. Grab your friends and visit Eastwood MetroPark for the 11th annual Paddle in the Park! This event is free and will allow the you to learn everything you ever want to know about paddlesports and more. All ages and skills levels are welcome! Try a boat, learn basic strokes and water safety. Paddle in the Park is a partnership between the entire Dayton Area paddlesports community:

Learn the basics about kayaks and paddling. Whether you have paddled before or not this presentation will take you through the ABCs. Learn about the different types of kayaks and characteristics, the parts of the boat, how to plan ahead before you take a trip, how to properly fit a kayak, getting to and from the water, paddling and safety equipment, how to recognize hazards, and proper storage.

Kayak, paddle and PFD provided or bring your own equipment. Learn the basics about kayaks, spending about 30 minutes on the Great Miami River. (Weather and river flow permitting). Learn about paddling etiquette, proper safety equipment and getting started. Learn the principles of paddling, various strokes, and maneuvers. Dress to get wet.

5K Run and Fitness Walk to Benefit CARE House
Race starts at 7:00 PM, Registration begins at 5:30 PM

All ages welcome. Starting from outside Brixx Ice Company located at 500 East First Street in Downtown Dayton, the 3.1 mile course leads participants past Fifth Third Field and along the Great Miami River before returning to the Brixx “Refueling Station” where they will be greeted with complimentary food and drink, an awards presentation to the top male and female participants, as well as live entertainment. All proceeds benefit CARE House, the Dayton community's advocacy center for child victims of abuse and neglect.

Join us for a morning paddle float on the Great Miami River from West Carrollton to Miamisburg approximately 5.5 miles. (Weather & river flow permitting). This is an unguided trip. Dress to get wet. Prior kayaking experience is required and the paddling progression is strongly recommended. You must have completed kayak basics or have demonstrable experience to attend.

9:00 AM - Noon ROUTE: K&G Bike Center (Kettering - Marshall Rd) to Bellbrook & back - 36 miles. Rally rides are free to all registered Young's riders, otherwise $5 charge for the ride. Rally rides are a great way to get ready for the big ride, especially if you aren’t used to going on long distance rides. Rally Rides are a way to meet some of the other riders. Each rally ride is $5.00 - which is credited to your fundraising account. Fully supported with food and beverages.

It sits on a narrow strip of land; front 9 is mostly open with OB sidewalks and back 9 is wooded. Some elevation. Installed Spring 2009. Designed By Ken Rollins. I-70 to exit #29. South on SR 48(Main St.) for 2.3 miles to a right on Westbrook Rd. Go up the hill 1 mile to a right on Cheri Lynne Dr., 0.2 miles to a right on Jean Dr. Straight to parking lot. 1st tee to left of parking.

About Terrence Cavanaugh
Over the past 27 years, in addition to studio assignments, Terrence has been an associate and teacher of photography through Sinclair College, the University of Cincinnati adult education program (Anderson High School), Five Rivers Metro Parks, the Cincinnati Nature Center and the Cincinnati Women's Club. Many of his images have been published both nationally and international through area advertising agencies. He has won numerous photography awards, and in 2008 he was honored as Photographer of the Year by the Focus Photo Club of Dayton, Ohio.
