The Adventure Summit is the area’s premiere outdoor adventure exposition that will focus attention on Dayton as the region’s emerging adventure capital of the Midwest. The event is free and open to outdoor enthusiasts of all ages and interest levels. Speakers include professional backpacker and 2007 "Adventurer of the Year" Andy Skurka, as well as Jon Dorn, current editor-in-chief of Backpacker Magazine. 4:00 PM The Adventure Summit Triathlon includes a 250-yard swim, a 6-mile bike and a 2-mile run/walk. There is a half hour for each category. Sign up as an individual or as a team. Try something new, gauge your current fitness level, or just get an extra workout. Register at Up and Running or by phone at (937) 432-9210. Registration is $10 cash or check and will be donated to Girls On The Run in Dayton. Sign up to get out and run, bike, and swim for charity!

This race is an out n back course on the Little Miami Bike path. There is a slight downhill going out, which makes for a slight uphill coming back in.

We'll cover the spectrum of information from how to find the right pack, how to fit everything into that pack, how to pack for the any weather, all the way to what gear works best. This class is intended to cover the basics for those who've always wanted to backpack, so if you're interested, sign up! Questions are welcomed and encouraged! Let's get ready for adventure!

Bring your family and friends to Dayton’s original Backpacker Campfire, featuring nature and travel slide shows presented by local photographers. The annual Harrigan’s 5k -- the best of both worlds: a fun run for all ages and a timed race for the competitive types. Food, refreshments, door prizes, medals for category winners, come dressed up in your favorite St. Patrick’s Day outfit. 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM FEE varies $2 to $9, race day registration required.
One of the more difficult races in the Dirt Dawg Dirty Dozen Trail Series. Often wet and cool, the trail is fairly fast in the first 3 miles. Once passing the first aid station the UPs and DOWNs begin to nip at your heels.

Get ready for the Best in Dayton Series #1 at Belmont Park DGC on the 13th of March. We are starting the BID series at Belmont this year to kick off the season in style. Scenic course, located on rolling hills, some fairly steep, with numerous large trees. Shifting winds are a factor to be reckoned with. Long tees on 4 holes bring distance to 6167 ft. Used in the 1991 World Championships. Installed in 1989. I-75 to US 35 East, exit Smithville Rd. south 1 mile past 4 lights, left on Highridge Ave., 2 blocks to left at park maintenance entrance.

Introduction to Backpacking
6:30 - 9:00 PM $5, registration required. 14 Years and older.
Get an introduction to backpacking and find your comfort zone in terms of trips and gear selection. This class will introduce you to trip planning, trail techniques and nutrition, physical fitness, and 'Leave No Trace' concepts. Introduction to Backpacking or other demonstrable experience is a prerequisite for local Outdoor Recreation Department backpacking trips. Twin Creek 10K Trail Run
Race begins at 10:00 AM
FEE varies $2 to $9, race day registration required.
The race starts very quickly with a long sloping downhill through a large meadow. Soon you'll find yourself traveling undulating valleys. Once you reach the Aid Station you are through the hills... until you reach the (*huf*) the last (*huf*) quarter mile. As you struggle up that last hill, you'll see the top of a roof and you'll know you're halfway up?!?!
