Running 101 Training Group
Informational Meeting
7:00 PM This run/walk group is for the individual who wants to train for a 5K. Prior to starting this program the individual should be able to walk for a brisk 30 minutes. Up and Running will provide coach led workouts, training schedules, technical product, weekly updates, and much more. Please contact Up and Running for more information.
The program will start on February 2, 2010 training for a 5K held on April 25, 2010. Registration fee - $50.00 - includes weekly coaching, training shirt, race registration, and great perks at UAR!

K&G Bicycle Maintenance Series
Session includes 3 Saturday classes from 10:00 AM to Noon
FEE: $75 per person. These interactive hands-on training classes are designed to help you learn the skills that will keep you safe and allow you to spend more time riding and less time wrenching. Each class will last approximately two hours (from 10:00AM until noon) for a total of 6 hours of class time for the entire session. All classes are conducted in our Xenia location at 594 N. Detroit Street. The first class will cover the basics, including tires, tubes, cables, sizing, and basic bike setup. The second class continues with brakes and bearings. And we’ll conclude the third class with shifting and drive train. We can even include some extra material upon request. (Just let us know in advance, so that we can work it into the schedule.)

Andy Niekamp is the founder of the Dayton Area Backpackers & Hikers Club and is an avid long-distance hiker. Come hear his tales and learn the lessons of what to do and not do. Join us for these true tales of adventure. You'll see and hear how these local people have experienced various journeys, treks and feats. All presentations will take place next door to the store at A Taste of Wine, 90 S. Main Street, Miamisburg.

"Living for Adventure" Activity
On-the-Trail Breakfast Tasting
Enjoy a Hike, Stove Demo and Food Tasting
8:30 AM FREE. Reservations Required.
Join Great Miami Outfitters on Saturday, January 30th at 8:30 AM for a morning hike and breakfast tasting. On our 2.9 mile hike at Twin Creek Metropark, we'll be demonstrating stoves as we prepare on-the-trail tastings of pancakes, eggs and coffee for breakfast! As if a brisk morning hike were not enough, you'll get the chance to see a liquid stove, a canister stove, a Jetboil and an alcohol stove in action, cooking your breakfast right in front of your eyes. The hike and tasting are FREE, but you need to sign up to reserve a spot for the hike. We will follow the yellow trail off of the trail head at 9688 Eby Road, Germantown Ohio. Call us for reservations or more information. Please dress for the weather. You may want to bring water and an extra pair of shoes to change into after the hike. Some trails may be wet or muddy. Outdoor activities may require some strenuous exercise, so participants must acknowledge their own abilities and skills and are responsible for their own safety and comfort.

America's Wonderlands:
Canyons of the Southwest
1:30 - 3:00 PM FREE. All Ages.
'America's Wonderlands' is a series of slide presentations by Naturalist/Photographer Skip Layman. Each week will visit a different state or region and some of the famous and not so famous national parks in these area. We will also discuss why it is important to protect these and local beautiful habitats. "Canyons of the Southwest" will start at the lesser known North Rim of the Grand Canyon. Journey to the bottom of the canyon to the much less crowded and cooler North Rim and then onto nearby Zion and Bryce Canyon National Parks.
